Loosening the Caregiving Knot is a one-day conference for family caregivers. Like all Nancy’s House retreats, it is a day to focus on what you need to find your own path. Loosening the Caregiving Knot has workshops and resources to address many issues you face as a caregiver, providing ways to take care of yourself, information to ease some of the burden, and community resources that are there to help.

In honor of National Caregivers’ Month, Nancy’s House will host its second conference for caregivers on Saturday, November 3, 2018. The conference will be held at The Science History Institute (formerly known as The Chemical Heritage Foundation), 315 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Continental breakfast, beverages all day, and lunch are included. 150 caregivers are expected to attend, with room for 25 care recipients to be accommodated in a staffed activities room. Cathy Sikorski, an elder law attorney and humorist who speaks at many caregiving conferences, will be our keynote speaker.
Nancy’s House provides comprehensive respite for family caregivers, creating the opportunities to learn self-care skills in a community of support. This conference is an extension of that mission, and is designed to balance general information and self-care. There will be eight classes offered, and each will be offered twice – once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Chair massages will be available all day.
Registration costs to caregivers will be kept low, in keeping with our mission of affordable service for a financially stressed group. The general registration will be $25.00, to include all meals, services and materials.
